Great Sword

Great swords (sometimes referred to as “Long Swords”) are a classification typically designated as a sword required two hands for proper use, and containing a wide guard. This class will focus on the use of the traditionally European straight great sword, using either a cross guard or “V” guard; as is typically seen on the Scottish claymore.

The beginners class is designed to teach students the basics of offence and defence when using a great sword, as well as giving them an introduction to simulated combat using them. This class features equal parts theory and practice, and has a heavy focus on ingraining proper habits in to the individual to be used in combat situations.

Classes run every Sunday at Bowen Park from 2:30 until 4:00, and are 1 credit per month for Founders or otherwise are $10 per class! We invite everyone to come and try our classes, as your first class is always free. Please contact us and let us know if you’d like to join us for your trial class!
