Wrestling is the oldest sport known to man, being practiced in some variety in every society ever developed. Free Style Wrestling is part of the Olympic Wrestling branch, focusing on take downs, showing control of the opponent, and ultimately winning through pin or a technical victory.
This workshop will be focused on teaching the basics of Free Style, covering basic application and defence of takedowns, body control, applying pressure, and learning how to flip someone once they’re on the ground. This intensive will be a very physically oriented workshop, and we ask that all participants understand that the nature of the sport of wrestling requires a certain amount of physical contact.
For the workshop, we require that all participants have short clipped nails, shorts or sweatpants with no metal on them, and a t-shirt or long sleeve without a zipper. Appropriate footwear or no footwear is also required.
Please make sure to bring water, a snack to keep your energy up, and a towel is recommended.
